Bolero Weekly Progress - 5 July 08

This week was shortened by the 4th of July festivities and Tim took off for a well deserved cruise. That said it was big little week. Tim wrapped up the structural modifications on Bolero and has her prepped for paint. So take a long hard look at her in her bare primer as this will be the last time.

I have been trying to purchase all the bits and pieces to get Bolero ready to launch, rig and sail once she gets to Lopez Island. I should receive the remaining hardware and my major line order this week so I can start whipping and splice the running rigging.

Launching Bolero will be a bit of a logistic hurdle. The mast can't be stepped until she is launched. And I can't fit the boomkicker, vang, mainsheet boom blocks, backstay tension system and running rigging until then. But... I can't sail away from the dock until all of those systems are good to go. So the plan, as it stand now, is to launch and step the mast and row over to a slip that I can rent for the day. My hope is that I can attach the boom, raise the mainsail and take all the measurements that I need to install the require hardware to make Bolero sail ready.

That's the hope anyway.
